EtherCAT is considered to be the most widely used Ethernet-based standard for motion communication, and it is also widely used in robotics. The paper describes how the EtherCAT technology meets the specific requirements of space robotics. In addition, it shows how the space industry benefits from agreeing on this technology for robotics.
