The world has been greatly interested in the sampling of lunar regolith. A novel sampling method is required to acquire a large amount of diverse lunar regolith. In this paper, a percussive coring drill for sample-collecting robot is proposed. It is revealed in the experimental study that the sampling rate of lunar regolith is increased by the percussive load during coring. Sampling rates vary with changes in percussive frequency. During the field test, the sampling mechanism with a percussion module designed in the paper is successfully integrated and assembled with a robotic dog, verifying the feasibility of the design.
