This paper presents a comprehensive review and comparative analysis of lunar rover wheel designs that have been successfully deployed and tested on the Moon. Unlike conceptual models or prototypes that failed during terrestrial testing, this study focuses exclusively on wheels that achieved operational performance in real lunar missions. The evaluation emphasizes the physical characteristics and engineering principles that govern wheel functionality under the Moon's unique environmental conditions. To establish a foundation for comparison, the initial section examines the lunar terrain and regolith properties, as these factors critically influence wheel design requirements such as traction, load distribution, and abrasion resistance. The subsequent sections analyze both historical and modern wheel architecture, highlighting its structural features, material choices, and performance.
